Josh Renshaw hit two consecutive boundaries to seal victory in the penultimate over of Wednesday’s clash, which was decided by one run after Glenn Maxwell missed his final delivery.
The 19-year-old Renshaw’s unbeaten 63 from 43 balls helped Brisbane post 7-178 after they were sent in by Maxwell (71 off 43).
Mitch Swepson took 2-26 for the Heat but it was his fellow left-arm seamer Mitchell Santner who did most damage with 3-16 from four overs as he ripped through Melbourne’s middle order late on.
