Want a Spiritual Connection For Peace?
Whether you’re an old-school spiritualist or a newbie to the whole mystical concept, you may be wondering why you’re feeling so stressed out and why you aren’t experiencing the peace and harmony you’ve been looking for. It’s probably because you aren’t thinking in a holistic manner, or you’re not putting enough thought into how you are impacting the world around you. Here are some ways and spiritchat to connect with the higher power to find some peace.
Holistic Peace Thinking
Historically, most people have viewed the world through the lens of religion. Several major religious traditions have developed and taught the concept of peace. However, religion and peace are not synonymous. While there is an obvious divergence between precept and practice, most of the major religious traditions have developed theory of peace.
The most ancient monotheistic religion in the world is Judaism. The Torah, which contains the Hebrew Scriptures, describes peace as a divine gift. In this regard, the Israelis and the Palestinians could experience unimaginable breakthroughs in relationship. These breakthroughs may usher in a new era of mutual solidarity.
Gandhi believed that nonviolence is the noblest expression of truth. His autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, outlines his arguments. He asserted that there is no way to find the true truth except through nonviolence. His theories of nonviolence include satyagraha, or nonviolence as a truth force.
Aristotle identifies justice as a virtue. He sees the goal of life as eudaimonia, or human flourishing. He also stresses the importance of recognizing one’s interconnectedness with other lives. Other virtues he lists include caring, responsibility, and being honorably.
Gaia-Peace Theory
Firstly, what is the Gaia-peace hypothesis? It is an oxymoron to say the least. I have not heard of any Gaia-like entity in the wild. I do know of one person who has. This is a very small subset of my ilk that has the misforttage. Secondly, there are a number of other people that have not mentioned. As such, this may be the most appropriate forum to discuss the topic. As such, the following are a few pertinent facts pertaining to the topic. The gaia-peace hypothesis may be found in the bowels of many aficionados, but is certainly not limited to these walls.
New Scientific Paradigms
During the recent revolution in the scientific field, paradigms were developed to address some of the underlying issues. It is not uncommon for different communities of paradigms to share similar data. However, these competing traditions rarely share common methodological assumptions. Without a common core of terms, language, and experiences, communication between communities will be difficult.
As science moves from a theory to a paradigm, metaphysical assumptions become subject to change. As a result, new laws may be formulated, which may affect the way in which scientists approach certain problems.
Religion exhibits subjective features that are similar to those found in science. However, religions lack lower-level laws that enable scientists to influence higher-level theories. As a result, they are vulnerable to falsification by counter-instances.
For example, the current theory of plate tectonics incorporates paradigms of earthquakes, continental drift, mountain building, sea floor spreading, and volcanic activity. Each of these is a component of the dominant paradigm, which includes Newtonian physics, caloric theory, and electromagnetism.
Ancient Mystical Traditions
Despite the plethora of conflicts that have arisen in the name of religion, many mystical traditions around the world have been dedicated to peace. These traditions are often focused on inner peace and quieting the mind while meditating.
The revival of interest in mystical traditions may be indicative of a desire for deeper meaning in our lives. As we become more and more overwhelmed by the whirlwind of change, people are looking for a sense of mooring. Interestingly, the recent interest in mystical traditions coincides with a growth in fundamentalist movements throughout the world. These movements have resulted in a variety of conflicts. The conflicts tend to arise from the differences between different religious interpretations of beliefs, practices, organizational forms, and rituals.
Ultimately, a revival of interest in mystical traditions could be an indication that we are seeking to create a new culture of peace. Mystic traditions have the potential to help us achieve global peace.
